Last Christmas Card

Good morning! Hopefully you have recovered from Christmas and you are able to sit down and relax and hopefully do some crafting.

This was a card which I had worked ahead for on my Festive Friday design team commitment, but as you know they were cancelled due to lack of participants :(
Any way you still get to see what I created! We were asked to use piercing and piercing templates. Here's what I created:

I've gone with a soft subtle look of baja breeze, crumb cake and whisper white. I've cut the bottom with my adorning accents and pierced the bottom, then I've pierced two labels and cut them in half to create the frame around the image. I used my pennant parade to make my Christmas trees and I ripped some whisper white to create texture and depth in the image and more piercing around the edge.

Bright Birthday Four!

MERRY
* CHRISTMAS! *

Well the day that we've all planned and scurried around for is finally here! I hope that you are able to enjoy family and good times today and dont eat too much (as I know I seem to do!)

We still have a challenge on today at Try Stampin' On Tuesday, and its a goodie! I need a card for my DD who has a birthday early January and this sketch was perfect.

I wanted to use bright, fun colours, so out came my brights collection from Stampin' Up. I used my beautiful wings embosslit and my heart punch to create my panel and then I inlaid embossed it with my square lattice embossing folder. I actually made a second embossed panel, but it was way too heavy on the card, so I've used some vellum, embossed with my perfect polka dot folder and trimmed with a very thin piece of pumpkin pie. I was happy with the result, as I can still see the bottom panel. The scallop circle is from spellbinders and I've cut out my number 4 in white and popped it up on dimensionals.  My twine is actually from a pack I got with a magazine, but it is a perfect match with the tempting turquoise - score!
Here's another view - do you think a 4 year old would love to get this?? I know I would:)

Go past Try Stampin On Tuesday and see the other creations the design team have come up with as usual they are amazing!

Owl Christmas

Good morning! I was asked to create a cute little envelope to package some tickets for a family member. I decided to make a money slider - you can see another version here - as these are such an effective way to display your gift.

How cute is that little guy? I'm trying to use items which have been slightly neglected of late. I've used retired jolly holiday dsp (trying to use up my stash) and the sentiment is from 'four the holidays'. Any questions just ask.

Simple Tag's

Hi! I just wanted to quickly share these simple tags I made up for the gift bags for Christmas.

I used some retired dsp and a few different elements and created 10 of these in about a half hour - too easy. Any questions just ask :)

Joy to the World

Hello! So we are well and truly into the festive season and hopefully you aren't getting too busy or too run off you feet! At Try Stampin' On Tuesday Jenn has a created a simple sketch for you to use and keep those creative juices flowing even in these busy times.

I was in need of two more Christmas cards for some neighbors and this was exactly the sketch I needed! Quick and simple, yet so effective. Now I'm not one to use dsp - I buy it loving the patterns or colours, but when it comes to using it I either freak out because using a pattern other than polka dots is too scary or I dont want to cut into it because it's too pretty - I see a few of you nodding your heads knowing where I'm coming from ;) So I decided it was time and used this gorgeous paper for my creation. The dsp is retired jolly holiday and my colours are old olive, cherry cobbler and very vanilla. The sentiment is from my favourite set for Christmas sentiments "jolly jingles".

Make sure you pop past the Try Stampin' On Tuesday to see all the stunning creations from the design team.

Festive Friday #49 - Sketch Challenge

Good morning! Well we start off with some bad news first - Nicole has decided to finish the Festive Friday's, as we weren't getting too many entries. It such a shame as I was so organised this year at Christmas with my cards as I'd made them right through the year. Anyway, on to my final installment for Festive Fridays.

Nicole has another sketch for us to play along with at Festive Friday this week and boy is it a good one!
Here it is:

As soon as I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I hadn't had a chance to play much with the triple time stamping technique yet and this sketch just lent itself to it.

I've used "snow swirled" for the snowflakes and the colours are real red, old olive and crumb cake. I have also used my new favourite stamp set "jolly jingles" for my sentiment and a few rhinestones for the bling and I was done! I'm quite pleased with the result and this card has already made it's way to some special friends (have you sent out your Christmas cards yet?)

So go past Nicole's blog see what the other design team members have created and help us finish with a bang! Remember to link your creation up to the froggie - it's great seeing what you come up with!

Live, Laugh & Love

Hi! Well it's time again for another Try Stampin' On Tuesday, and once again Jenn has created a fantastic sketch!

Here's the sketch:
I love how this sketch lends itself to adding a few more layers or keeping it nice and simple, which is what I did.

I've layered three panels all dry embossed with a different folder (final press, manhattan flower and vintage wallpaper) and layered them onto my not quite navy card base. I love how striking this colour combo is. I've added my happy birthday sentiment stamped in not quite navy, from "on your birthday" and added a few hearts with a pearl to finish them off. I actually made a few of these simple cards, as early January I have a stack of birthdays which seem to creep up on me - so I'm now well prepared :)

Now over to you! We love seeing what you come up with and you'll definitely want to go past Try Stampin On Tuesday to see what the other design members have created.

Sweet Sunday Sketch #173 & The Paper Players #124

Hi! Just wanted to share a card which uses a few challenges. Over at The Paper Players Ann has set us a challenge of 'snow men' - which for me is something I never really do on Christmas cards as we are warm and sunny in Australia for Christmas. I also used the sketch Karen has done over at Sweet Sunday Sketch.

I was quite happy with the end result, but I know that the photo doesn't do it justice :) Any questions just ask.
Thanks for looking :)

Here's the challenges I'm entering:

Try Stampin' On Tuesday #95

Hello! Well this is my first challenge as guest designer for Try Stampin on Tuesday! And Jenn has a great sketch for us to work with.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my creation:

I absolutely adore this sweet stamp! And I'm slowly getting better at my colouring :) This card started brewing as soon as I saw the sketch and is pretty much how I wanted it to turn out (love when that happens ;)

I masked off sections to create my 'Heavenly glow' and brayered the rays in so saffron. One tip I will say for the rays is to make sure the point of the ray goes to the very middle of your image. This was my second attempt as the rays were coming out of Joseph's head.

I've used my blender pen and neutrals, old olive, certainly celery, not quite navy and marina mist ink for my colouring. The sentiment is from my 'Jolly Jingles' wheel which I've cut up so I could use the sentiments individually. I used some blue twine, crumb cake as my base and the dsp is from the subtle paper stack.

We would love to see what you come up with using the sketch. And I highly recommend going past Try Stampin on Tuesday just to check out the amazing creations that the design team have come up with.

Thanks for looking :)

Festive Friday #47 - Inspiration Photo

Hi Every one! It's time again for another Festive Friday and this week Nicole has given us an inspiration photo to work with.
Here's the photo:

Yes it's vintage, neutral colours with a bit of bling - well that is what inspired me any way - along with the cute little bird :)
So here is what I came up with:

I used very vanilla and crumb cake as my colours. I ran a piece of very vanilla through my big shot with the vintage wallpaper, but I brayered some crumb cake ink on to the non raised section of the embossing folder to create a soft coloured background to highlight the pattern (hope that all made sense!) and I've sponged all the edges. I pulled out my neglected bird punch for the little bird and the ring of leaves. I brayered some crumb cake ink over the bird which is punched out in crumb cake to get more definition for the bird. The sentiment was from the "jolly jingles" wheel and I added a few pearls to opposite corners. I was pretty happy with the result, that I've actually used the similar design in another project which I will share at a later date. This card has already gone to my parents as their Christmas card - thanks to the challenge I managed to be super organised this year!!

So why not use the photo to inspire you? We love to see what you create!

Freshly Made Sketches #61

Hi! I just wanted to quickly post my card for this weeks Freshly made sketch. I wanted to give my mum a quick card just to say thanks and here's what I came up with:

I used crumb cake base, which was dry embossed with the perfect polka dot embossing folder. My main panel is rose red and I used the scallop edge along the bottom. I've cut out 'Mum' in old olive from my timeless alphabet and mounted them on dimensionals for depth and the sentiment is from 'perfect words'.
Here's the sketch:

Festive Friday #45 - Colour Challenge

Hello! Well I know I've been a little MIA here on my blog these past few weeks - life just seems to be getting busier! Did you know it's only 40 days until Christmas - eeek!!!
Anyway it's time for another installment of Festive Friday's and Nicole has a colour challenge for us.

Here is how I used the colours:

Firstly sorry for the lack of definition in this picture - for some reason this card didn't want to be photographed!

Ok on to the card: I used my white craft ink pad and stamped the swirl from 'elements of style' all over a piece of midnight muse. I then took my versa mark pen and drew around all the white ink to create the shadow. The sentiment is stamped in basic grey and is from the 'jolly jingles' wheel, which I cut up and clear mounted all the stamps - love how I have so many different sentiments from this one wheel! I cut the sentiment panel out with my frame labels, sponged the edges in basic grey and then put some retired baja breeze pleated ribbon around the edge. I've also used some baja breeze seam binding across the middle. Not sure that you can see, but I have also placed some small pearls on the top and bottom points of the sentiment panel.

Go past Nicole's blog and check out the rest of the design teams creations and remember to link up your creation as well as we love to see what you create!

Festive Friday #43

Hi there! It's time for another Festive Friday and this week Nicole has a product challenge for us: Simply Scored. I dont actually own one of these babies, so I used my good old ruler and stylus to create the background on my card.

I found it hard to get a good picture of my card, but I'm pretty sure you get the gist of it :) I used baja breeze, very vanilla and early espresso for my colours (this has gotta be a favourite colour combo for Christmas this year - so luscious) The dsp is from festival of prints pack and my tree was stamped in baja breeze and is from 'Pennant Parade'. I scored the background on the diagonal both ways to create the diamond effect and then loaded up all the points with a small pearl.

I hope you can find time to join in with us this week, as we love to see what you create! So load your card up to the froggie on Nicole's blog and get a head start on those Christmas cards!

Thanks for looking :)

Merry Monday #38

Wow this is my second post for today :) This time I'm sharing a card for this weeks Merry Monday sketch challenge.

Here's my creation:

And the sketch:

I love these little penguins! The images and sentiment are from 'polar party' and I masked them off to stamp the trees in the background. I pulled out my 'jolly holiday' dsp, as I have a ton of this one!!

Any questions just ask & thanks for looking :)

Freshly Made Sketches #57

Hi all! I'm here to share a card I made for this weeks challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

I've have had this image coloured for ages and it's been sitting on my desk, just waiting to be made into a card! The sketch was perfect for this :) I've gone with a brown palette, using soft suede, crumb cake and sahara sand. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
Here's the sketch:

Go past and check out the design team designs - as always they are amazing!

Festive Friday #41 - Sketch

Good morning! It's time agin for a Festive Friday. This week Nicole has a great sketch for us to use:

 Here's my take on it:

I'm loving marina mist and bashful blue together for Christmas. I pulled out a new set 'Polar Party' which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it, and coloured the cute polar bear. Now here in Australia we're not really known for our 'white' Christmases, but I love how this card has turned out! The snow flakes are from 'Snow Swirled', stamped in white craft ink and white heat embossed. I then used my chevron embossing folder to add texture to the marina mist strip. I used my scallop edge punch border for the bottom of the strip and glimmer paper for a thin border around the image.

My sentiment is from 'Jolly Jingles' wheel. I bought this knowing I wanted to cut it up and use the sentiments separately. I mounted them onto cling mount foam and I was able to cut out every sentiment, with no waste.

This is a great sketch - dress it up or keep it simple - either way we love to see what you create :) So link up your creation to Nicole's blog and get a start on you Christmas cards!

Sweet Summer

Hi, This is another card which has been sitting for too long in my 'to blog' folder. I made this card using this sketch. I loved this sweet little stamp set and it is great one to colour.

My colour are not quite navy, daffodil delight, baja breeze, whisper white and old olive. I love the clean lines of the card and I added some pearls in varying sizes for some bling. The sentiment is from 'best yet'.

Thank for looking :)

Just Us Girls #157 - Sketch

Hi! This is the second week I've been able to join in with Just Us Girls, and I have to say thank you again for choosing my card last week :) So the challenge is to use the sketch:

Here's what I came up with:

This is a pack of paper which scares me! So I challenged myself  to use it with this great simple sketch. I loved how I could just use one strip of dsp as a focal point and just add a few layers to accentuate it :) I'm happy with how it turned out and will be great for one of the male birthdays I have coming up!

Thanks for looking :)

Festive Friday #39 - Inspiration Photo

Good morning! It's time yet again for a Festive Friday challenge and this week is an inspiration photo.
Here's the pic:

Now I was inspired by a whole heap of ideas and it was a process to work out what I was going to create :) I tried to re-create the santa in the fire place scene, I loved the stockings, the 'embossed' fire place and even the ornaments on the mantel. I would walk away from the photo and come back to see what really inspired me and I kept coming back to the potted tree and the pot as it reminded me of some of the pots my Mum had in our garden when I was growing up. So here is my card:

In the end I've kept it fairly clean and simple. I used my 'lovely as a tree' set and stamped and fussy cut three of the pine tree out and I've glued them together down the middle and ruffled the leaves to get some dimension. You cant see it in the photo, but the background is actually scored with squares and the pot I hand cut and I use some dimensionals to give it more depth. My greeting is meant to be like the mantel and it's from 'curly cute'.

So why not join us this week? Go past Nicole's blog and link your creation up to the froggie, we love to see what you create!

Thanks for looking :)

Just Us Girls #156 - Numbers

G'day! Today I have a card which I'm putting in for this weeks challenge at Just Us Girls. It's wild card week and the challenge is to use numbers in your creation.

Here's what I came up with:

I cut out a heap of numbers in white and stuck them down in order 1 to 8. I now wish I'd thought ahead, because the second row of 1 to 4 is hidden - oh well :) I cut out a 6 in red polka dot and layered it onto my circles and added some dsp flags. I love how this turned out - simple and effective and I reckon it could be for a boy or girl.

Here's the challenge:
